(Salem, SD) — Former Centerville Mayor Jay Ostrem is facing three counts of life in prison without parole. He was sentenced on Thursday at the McCook County Courthouse after being convicted in March for three counts of first-degree murder. Friends and family of the victims Paul Frankus, Zachary Frankus and Timothy Richmond packed the courthouse and several impact statements were read aloud by family for the court. Ostrem served as mayor of Centerville from May 2009 to November 2011. He was convicted after a four-day trial where a jury heard witness testimony, expert testimony, 911 calls and reviewed body camera footage and evidence from the scene.
