Homeschooling Surpasses Private School Enrollment

(Rapid City, SD) — Homeschool South Dakota is claiming enrollment statewide has surpassed private school enrollment. Homeschool South Dakota President James DeJong says an initial surge in homeschooling was caused by the Covid pandemic but the trend has continued as more families have found they can manage the responsibility. DeJong says passing private school enrollment is, “an incredible milestone.” He also says its a trend that is growing nationwide. The organization moved its annual conference this year from Sioux Falls to Rapid City in order to accommodate western South Dakota families.
