(Minot, ND) — A Minot mother is asking state lawmakers to crack down on childcare centers after she says her one-year-old suffered a serious injury at a licensed daycare provider. Jane McMahon received a message through a communication app from her son’s daycare that her son had been bitten by another child. He needed several stitches and is now missing a fingernail. Midwest Montessori responded to her complaints, saying biting is often a common toddler behavior. McMahon plans to testify before the Child Care Services Advisory Committee on April 16th, urging North Dakota to require providers to address serious safety violations within 24 hours. Right now, daycare centers have 30 to 60 days to correct the issue.
