(Bismarck, ND) – A number of North Dakota counties are implementing burn bans right now because of the unusually dry and warm conditions. North Dakota Response reports 35 of the state’s 53 counties have active bans. Native American reservations are also putting bans in place. The Turtle Mountain tribe issued its own fire emergency and burn ban on the reservation. Burning piles of brush, dozer and manure are prohibited, as is burning hay bales, grass, leaves, and garbage pits. Bonfires are forbidden but you can use barbecue grills as long as the area is not too close to any flammable materials.
