(Rapid City, SD) — Residents who were evacuated due to a wildfire in Pennington County are back home. South Dakota Wildland Fire said the Murphy Fire was first reported around midnight Wednesday into Thursday morning at about ten acres. At its peak, the fire had grown to an estimated 423 acres. Residents were evacuated around 3 a.m. Thursday and were able to return to their homes around noon yesterday.
