South Dakota To Receive Over $10M From Purdue Pharma Settlement

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota is receiving more than ten-million dollars in a settlement with Purdue Pharma. Attorney General Marty Jackley announced the settlement on Friday. He said the payments will be made over the next 15 years and stem from the company’s role in the opioid crisis. Sacklers, who owns Purdue Pharma, is prohibited from selling opioids in the U.S. as a result of the lawsuit. The funds will be used to expand addiction treatment, prevention and recovery programs.
