DPS: UTV Accident Near Lake Alvin Was Flood-Related

(Lincoln County, SD) — The South Dakota Department of Public Safety is confirming the death of a man in a UTV accident in Lincoln County was flood-related. This is the same fatality that Governor Kristi Noem mentioned during a Sunday news conference without giving any details. The 87-year-old man died Saturday when he tried to turn around on a closed road near Lake Alvin. According to a press release, the east shoulder of the road had washed away and as the man turned the UTV, he went backward over the edge of the washout. The Argus Leader reports the man’s identity will be released today.
