(Minot, ND) — The court has granted a request for the attorney for Daniel Breijo to withdraw from the case and approved Breijo’s application for a public defender. Attorney Jesse Walstad asked to withdraw saying Breijo hadn’t paid his law firm in a timely manner and continuing to represent him would create a financial hardship for his firm. Breijo is charged in the 2023 deadly shooting of Air National Guardsman Nicholas Van Pelt in Minot, and for injuring Van Pelt’s girlfriend. Breijo has a jury trial scheduled to begin October 19th.
