(Sioux Falls, SD) — The South Dakota Supreme Court is affirming an attempted threat of felony terrorism conviction. Lucian Celestine tried to appeal his conviction and sentence after he entered a guilty plea in November of 2024. Court documents indicate Celestine contacted the FBI in September of 2019 telling agents that he was hearing voices instructing him to kill President Trump. In June of 2020, he was caught trying to purchase a sniper rifle from an undercover Brookings Police officer after the department started to become concerned about his behavior. Celestine was sentenced to a two-and-a-half year prison sentence in March 2025.
