(Sioux Falls, SD) — Judge Robin Houwman says there were nearly 59-thousand cases in Minnehaha County last fiscal year. The judge delivered an annual presentation at the Minnehaha County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday. The number of cases is nearly 10-thousand more than the court saw in 2023. She says that number is expected to grow over the next several years and the county should devote more resources to the judicial system to handle the caseload. She also noted that the use of interpreters has increased by more than two-thousand cases compared to 2020.
