(Ward County, ND) — State prosecutors are charging a Sawyer business owner with improperly disposing hundreds of animal carcasses. Nathan Smith is being charged with 479 infractions after investigators found more than 470 dead cattle on one of his properties. The initial complaint was filed by a former employee of Smith’s feedlot business. State patrol conducted a flyover of the property where hundreds of the dead cattle were observed. The county’s highway department removed more than 450 dead cattle from the property on March 5th.
